A lot of homeowners find themselves attracted to the idea of selling their home themselves, instead of working with a real estate agent. If that’s you, then you’re in luck – we’ve put together a list of 8 resources for FSBO homeowners that we think will really help you out. These resources range from home design and DIY websites to platforms that will help you create great flyers and images for your home. We hope these tools prove useful as you go through the FSBO journey!
8 Resources for FSBO
1. The MLS
This is the biggest tool that any homeowner in the process of selling should use – whether you use a real estate agent or not. The biggest difference when it comes to the MLS (which stands for Multiple Listing Service) between FSBO and a realtor is that the realtor will automatically list your property on there – if you’re going FSBO, you’ll have to find a way to do it yourself. Most FSBO homeowners find that paying a flat-rate real estate broker to list their property is still a better deal than paying a realtor’s commission at the sale of their property.
2. Canva
Canva is a great free tool to use to design any images you want to use. Want to put text over pictures? Need some help making sure they’re the right size for printouts or social media? Canva is your friend! It’s easy-to-use, and like we mentioned, free! Many templates, various graphics, arrows, shapes, design tools and more are free with a basic account. Good images are key to success at FSBO, so don’t underestimate how awesome Canva could be to your marketing!
3. Snap Flyers
This service offers easy-to-use templates for real estate flyers. If you’re going the FSBO route, you probably already know that you’ll have to do all of the legwork for marketing your home. Snap Flyers makes it a little easier by offering you professional looking, downloadable templates. And remember, flyers aren’t just good for hanging up at stores and on telephone poles – you’ll want to have some quick brochures or flyers in the infobox attached to your front yard sign! Make sure the flyers you have are eye-catching and easy to read!
This is fairly self-explanatory: ForSaleByOwner is a great place to list your home, as well as find a lot of resources including legal information, tips for photos, lists of professionals you can hire for various services and more. If you aren’t already using ForSaleByOwner, you should be. You
don’t want to miss out on everything they have to offer.
5. A Website Host
Want to go the extra mile? Set up a website for your home. Include the web address on your flyers and point potential buyers to the site for more information, photos and even video tours of the home. You can use a host like GoDaddy to buy your domain name, then use a simple setup like WordPress to build your site. It doesn’t have to be terribly fancy – just easy to navigate and straightforward.
6. HGTV
HGTV is full of information on DIY projects, tips for updating your home to sell and curb appeal. It’s a great resources whether you’re FSBO or selling with a realtor. Trying to do a home repair or update? Search on HGTV to see if they have tutorials or tips. The writers and contributors are professionals, so you’ll be getting great advice!

Realtor.com might seem like a strange place for a FSBO homeowner to go for advice, but hear us out. This site has an entire section dedicated to helping you sell your home – tips that will apply whatever route you take. Things like the best updates to make, how to stage your living room and more are important to know, even if you’re selling on your own. 8. The Nest
The Nest is another one that is full of information and tips for homeowners. This article in particular is great as a reference for FSBO homeowners. Knowing the legal side of things is always important, but especially so if you’re doing this without the expertise of a real estate agent.
